Europe’s technological competitiveness is increasingly built on semiconductors, photonics, quantum technologies, and microelectronics. At the same time, growth companies in the sector have become the focus of investor interest.

Finland’s semiconductor ecosystem is growing — but growth cannot happen without talent. Companies across the industry report an urgent need for skilled professionals. According to the Chips from the North strategy*, Finland will need 15,000 new semiconductor professionals by 2035.

With a Memorandum of Understanding in place, the collaboration between the Nordic and Baltic centres is formally established.

Why to arrange a summit? After the Nordic Chip Summit 2025, held on 10th of November, I do not wonder about this anymore. And that of course adds to my understanding that innovations start from interaction. And often from serendipity.
